Willie Tomlinson II Dies in Bell Road Pedestrian Crash

ANTIOCH, TN — October 17, 2026 Willie Tomlinson II, 43, of Nashville, died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Bell Road in Antioch, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

The collision occurred early Saturday in the 1100 block of Bell Road in Davidson County. According to preliminary information released by police, Tomlinson stepped off the sidewalk and began crossing from north to south when an eastbound Acura Integra struck him.

Emergency responders transported Tomlinson to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities reported that officers observed no signs of impairment at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Investigators may examine the vehicle’s movements, roadway conditions, lighting, visibility and other evidence to establish how the collision occurred. Any conclusions about contributing factors or responsibility will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, managing partner of Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of a thorough investigation in pedestrian collision cases. In cases such as this, reviewing available evidence, including physical findings and potential witness accounts, can help investigators reconstruct the sequence of events and determine whether negligence contributed to the crash.

An accident reconstruction specialist may also help clarify vehicle movements and other circumstances when the available evidence warrants further analysis.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

In fatal pedestrian collisions, the legal circumstances and available evidence determine whether a wrongful death claim may be pursued. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, has discussed how these cases can involve questions about a driver’s duty to yield, the circumstances of the collision and the losses experienced by surviving family members.

Depending on the facts and applicable Tennessee law, eligible family members may be able to seek compensation for qualifying losses, which can include funeral expenses, lost financial support and loss of companionship. The availability of any claim depends on the individual circumstances and applicable legal requirements.

A careful review of the investigation findings may help clarify the circumstances of the collision and any potential legal issues. No determination of fault has been established by the preliminary information released by police.
