Travis Tresbian Hurt in 34th Avenue Scooter Crash

SHELDON, IA — October 6, 2026 Travis Tresbian, 36, was injured Tuesday morning when a pickup truck struck his electric scooter along 34th Avenue in Sheldon, according to the Sheldon Police Department.

Police reported that a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on 34th Avenue while Tresbian was riding an electric scooter northbound. At approximately 11:55 a.m., the pickup driver turned left into Sheldon Plaza and collided with the scooter rider.

Tresbian, a Sheldon resident, was transported by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment. The 67-year-old pickup driver was not injured and received a citation for failing to yield while making a left turn.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, including the left turn and the driver’s failure to yield, as reported by police.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, has emphasized the importance of preserving evidence and conducting an independent investigation in scooter collision cases.

In cases such as this, investigators may review the police report, witness statements, vehicle damage, roadway conditions and any available surveillance footage to establish how the collision occurred. An independent review can also help clarify whether driver negligence or other contributing factors played a role.

Bond has noted that legal professionals may assist by consulting qualified experts, examining insurance coverage and gathering evidence relevant to determining responsibility. These steps can be important when the official investigation does not answer every question about a crash.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the investigation’s findings and the circumstances of the collision, Tresbian may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim against a responsible party.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, has discussed the challenges accident victims can face following a serious collision. Injuries may lead to medical expenses, missed work, rehabilitation costs and disruption to everyday activities.

In cases such as this, a personal injury claim may involve reviewing medical records, documenting financial losses and assessing the impact of the injuries. The available evidence, applicable law and insurance coverage would help determine whether compensation may be available.

Formica has also highlighted the importance of understanding settlement offers before accepting them. A careful assessment of documented losses can help an injured person evaluate whether a proposed settlement adequately addresses the consequences of an accident.

The investigation and available evidence will be important in determining the circumstances of the Sheldon collision and whether further legal action is warranted.
