Teresa Lilly killed in Bakersfield pedestrian accident, according to CHP

BAKERSFIELD, CA — October 10, 2026 The Kern County coroner’s office has identified the pedestrian killed in a vehicle collision on Rosedale Highway as 66-year-old Teresa Darlene Lilly, a Bakersfield resident.

The incident took place around 6:50 p.m. on westbound Rosedale Highway, west of Karla Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2023 Toyota Camry traveling in the No. 1 lane struck the pedestrian, causing critical injuries. Lilly was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were injured. The driver of the Toyota stayed at the location and is cooperating with investigators. An official probe into the circumstances remains active.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Pedestrians continue to face significant risks on American roadways even when drivers hold a general duty to yield. National data from the Governors Highway Safety Association has previously projected thousands of pedestrian fatalities annually, underscoring the persistent dangers.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized that pedestrians typically hold the right of way when crossing streets or intersections, whether or not a marked crosswalk is present. In cases such as this, Bond stressed the value of an independent review conducted by an experienced attorney to safeguard the victim’s interests. “Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” she noted.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation, the family of Teresa Darlene Lilly may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim related to the loss of companionship and support.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, observed that the emotional and practical burdens following a fatal accident can be profound. In cases such as this, he explained, a wrongful death attorney can monitor official findings, protect legal rights, and help prevent insurance carriers from undervaluing or denying a claim. “An attorney can protect your rights and ensure that you are not taken advantage of,” Formica said.

Accident Injury News extends its thoughts to the family of Teresa Darlene Lilly during this difficult time.
