Rigoberto Pruneda hurt in two-vehicle crash near Othello

OTHELLO, WA — November 4, 2026 A 41-year-old semi-truck driver, Rigoberto Pruneda, sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision near Othello on Tuesday morning, November 4, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

Pruneda was traveling westbound on State Route 26 in a semi-truck at approximately 8:15 a.m. when another vehicle struck his truck near the intersection of Road D Southeast. Authorities reported that the other driver failed to slow down before reaching the intersection.

Following the collision, emergency responders transported Pruneda to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

Officials have not released additional information about the other driver or the circumstances leading up to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The Washington State Patrol is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision at State Route 26 and Road D Southeast. Investigators will likely review the sequence of events, driver actions, road conditions and available evidence to determine how the crash occurred.

Determining whether a driver failed to exercise reasonable care is an important part of investigating collisions involving commercial trucks. Accident Injury News national legal analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasizes the importance of conducting an independent investigation alongside the official police inquiry.

In cases such as this, an independent review may involve interviewing witnesses, examining photographs and surveillance footage, evaluating vehicle damage, and obtaining relevant electronic or phone records. These steps can help establish how the collision happened and whether negligence contributed to the incident.

A thorough investigation is particularly important in commercial vehicle accidents because multiple factors, including driver conduct and vehicle operation, may need to be examined before responsibility can be determined.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Rigoberto Pruneda may have legal options for pursuing compensation if the investigation establishes that another driver’s negligence contributed to his injuries.

Accident Injury News national legal analyst Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, notes that serious accident injuries can create significant challenges beyond the immediate need for medical treatment. Recovery may involve continuing healthcare, financial pressure, time away from work and changes to everyday activities.

In cases such as this, an eligible injured individual may be able to seek compensation for medical expenses, anticipated future treatment, lost income, reduced earning capacity, pain and suffering, and emotional distress, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.

A careful assessment of the accident evidence, medical documentation and resulting losses can help clarify the available legal options. Any potential claim would depend on the findings of the investigation and the applicable legal requirements.
