Port Charlotte Crash Leads to Charge for Angelica Brianna Clark

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (May 30, 2026) – A 17-year-old electric bicyclist suffered critical injuries Saturday night in Port Charlotte, and a local woman has been arrested in connection with the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the collision occurred at approximately 10:19 p.m. at the intersection of Coliseum Boulevard and Wilmington Boulevard. The teenager was riding an e-bike west on Coliseum Boulevard and had turned onto Wilmington Boulevard when the bicycle collided with a Hyundai Palisade.

Investigators identified the driver of the SUV as Angelica Brianna Clark, 33, of Port Charlotte. According to the FHP, Clark briefly stopped after the crash but then left the scene.

The injured teen was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

Troopers later located the damaged Hyundai and identified Clark as the alleged driver. She was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.

The crash remains under investigation.

E-BIKE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Statistics indicate that more than one hit-and-run crash occurs every minute on roads in the United States. Many suspects flee the scene because they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or are concerned about being arrested if they remain at the scene.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in cases such as this that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney promptly to protect a victim’s rights.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. A thorough review of these factors can help injured victims pursue justice and obtain the financial compensation they may be entitled to receive.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The e-bike rider may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming and disrupt all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows the lawyer to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Formica added.

“Insurance companies often attempt to persuade victims to accept quick settlements that may be far below the true value of a claim. However, attorneys will vigorously advocate for their clients to ensure they are treated respectfully and compensated fairly.”
