Nemanja Ljepojevic killed in Old Charlotte Highway crash

MONROE, NC (October 25, 2026) Nemanja Ljepojevic, 35, of Indian Trail, North Carolina, died in a single-vehicle collision on Old Charlotte Highway near Rogers Road in Monroe early Sunday morning. The crash also claimed the life of 44-year-old Davor Barisic, while the driver sustained critical injuries, according to reports citing the Monroe Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly before 1 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway and struck multiple trees. Three men were inside the pickup at the time of the crash.

Ljepojevic and Barisic died at the scene. Emergency responders airlifted the driver to a hospital in the Charlotte area for treatment of critical injuries.

The Monroe Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Monroe Police Department’s Traffic Division is working to establish the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash on Old Charlotte Highway near Rogers Road. Investigators will need to determine why the Chevrolet Silverado departed the roadway and whether any contributing factors played a role.

In cases such as this, a thorough investigation may involve reviewing physical evidence from the crash scene, vehicle damage, roadway conditions and available witness accounts. Accident reconstruction may also help investigators assess the vehicle’s movements before impact.

National legal analysts Candice Bond and Stefano Formica have experience in matters involving serious motor vehicle collisions and wrongful-death claims. Their general legal perspective highlights the importance of establishing the facts before drawing conclusions about responsibility. No findings of fault have been reported in this collision.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The deaths of Ljepojevic and Barisic may raise questions about whether a wrongful-death claim is available, depending on the findings of the investigation and the applicable law. Any potential claim would require an assessment of the evidence, the circumstances of the crash and whether another party’s negligence contributed to the deaths.

Candice Bond, a managing partner at Bond Legal, and Stefano Formica, an attorney experienced in motor vehicle accident litigation, have backgrounds in cases involving fatal crashes and catastrophic injuries. In cases such as this, a legal review may examine accident reports, available insurance coverage and evidence of negligence before determining whether a civil claim is appropriate.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no determination of liability has been announced. Accident Injury News will report additional verified information as it becomes available.
