WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

In fatal bicycle collisions involving an alleged hit-and-run, the victim’s eligible surviving family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim, depending on the evidence, applicable law and circumstances of the crash.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and national legal analyst, has emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough, independent investigation in cases such as this. Investigators may need to examine vehicle damage, roadway conditions, visibility, surveillance footage and witness accounts to help establish how the collision occurred and whether negligence contributed to the fatal outcome.

Stefano Formica, an attorney and national legal analyst, has discussed the potential role of wrongful death litigation in helping families seek compensation following fatal accidents. Depending on the circumstances and Washington law, recoverable damages may include qualifying funeral expenses, financial losses and the loss of companionship or support.

An attorney can help eligible family members understand their legal options, assess available insurance coverage and determine whether a civil claim may be appropriate. The outcome of any claim would depend on the evidence and the applicable legal requirements.
