Kevin Perez Injured in Interstate 35 Rollover Near Faribault

ARIBAULT, MN — October 26, 2026 Kevin Rafael Perez, 32, of Northfield, was injured late Monday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 35 near Faribault in Rice County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:53 p.m. as a 2006 Mini Cooper traveled southbound on I-35. The vehicle left the roadway near milepost 61 before rolling over, leaving both the driver and passenger injured.

Authorities identified the driver as Tate Nathaniel Anderson, 27, of Kasson. Both occupants sustained injuries classified as non-life-threatening and were transported to separate hospitals for treatment.

Anderson was taken to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, while Perez was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

The crash report listed wet road conditions at the time of the incident. Investigators also noted that alcohol was suspected for Anderson, although the available report does not establish that impairment caused the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol documented the incident, with assistance from local emergency responders.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Minnesota State Patrol is the agency responsible for documenting the rollover and the circumstances surrounding the crash. The available report indicates that the Mini Cooper left the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 before overturning near Faribault.

Investigators may consider several factors when evaluating a single-vehicle rollover, including road conditions, vehicle handling, driver behavior and the circumstances that led the vehicle to leave the roadway. The report’s notation of wet pavement and suspected alcohol use may be relevant to the investigation, but neither detail independently establishes the cause of the collision.

The crash report also indicates that Perez was not wearing a seat belt, while the driver’s seat belt use was listed as unknown. Authorities have not established whether these circumstances contributed to the occupants’ injuries.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, managing partner of Bond Legal, offers general insight into the importance of preserving evidence in serious motor vehicle crashes. In cases such as this, a thorough review of the official crash report, vehicle condition, roadway evidence and available witness accounts can help clarify how an incident occurred.

A careful investigation can also help distinguish confirmed facts from suspected contributing factors. Any assessment of potential negligence would depend on the evidence gathered and the circumstances established by investigators.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the investigation’s findings, an injured passenger may have legal options if another party’s negligence contributed to a crash. The availability of a personal injury claim depends on the specific facts, applicable law and evidence establishing responsibility.

National legal analyst Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, provides general guidance on the challenges that can follow an unexpected injury. Medical treatment, time away from work and other accident-related expenses can create financial pressure for injured individuals and their families.

In cases such as this, relevant documentation may include medical records, treatment expenses, proof of lost income and the official crash report. These records can help establish the nature of the injuries and document the financial effects of an incident.

An attorney can review the available evidence, explain applicable legal options and communicate with insurance companies when appropriate. Any potential recovery would depend on the circumstances of the crash, the evidence of liability and the applicable legal requirements.

Accident Injury News presents these legal considerations as general information, not as a determination that negligence occurred or that Perez has a specific legal claim. The available crash report does not establish liability or confirm the cause of the rollover.
