Kevin Lawrimore killed in Conway motorcycle crash, says SCHP

CONWAY, SC — October 12, 2026 Kevin Lawrimore, a 64-year-old resident of Bucksport, South Carolina, died after a motorcycle collision near Conway, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

The crash occurred shortly before noon on Highway 544 near Kingswood Drive, where a motorcycle and another vehicle collided at an intersection.

Following the collision, Lawrimore received medical attention at the scene before being transported to Conway Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to information released by authorities.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified Lawrimore as the motorcyclist who died following the incident. Officials have not publicly identified the other driver, and investigators are continuing to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision on Highway 544 near Kingswood Drive. Authorities have not yet released further details about the sequence of events or the factors that may have contributed to the crash.

Motorcyclists face a heightened risk of serious injury in collisions because they lack the protective structure available to occupants of passenger vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 6,335 motorcyclist fatalities nationwide in 2023, highlighting the continuing dangers associated with motorcycle travel.

Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, emphasizes the importance of a thorough investigation following a serious motorcycle collision. In cases such as this, an independent review may help establish how the crash occurred and identify any contributing factors.

Investigators may examine vehicle damage, roadway conditions, available surveillance footage, witness statements and other relevant evidence. Depending on the findings, accident reconstruction specialists may also help clarify the movements of the vehicles before impact.

Preserving this information can be important in determining responsibility and protecting the legal interests of those affected by a fatal collision.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the findings of the investigation, Lawrimore’s eligible surviving family members may have grounds to explore a wrongful death claim if negligence contributed to the crash.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, notes that losing a family member in a traffic collision can create significant emotional and practical challenges. In cases such as this, understanding the available legal options can help families make informed decisions while they cope with their loss.

A potential wrongful death claim may address eligible losses, which can include funeral and burial expenses, loss of companionship and other damages permitted under applicable law. The availability and extent of any recovery depend on the evidence, the circumstances of the collision and the relevant legal requirements.

As the investigation continues, further findings may help clarify the events leading to Lawrimore’s death. Any potential civil claim would depend on establishing the relevant facts and determining whether another party bears legal responsibility.
