Hillary Rish killed in Fairview Road Lexington County crash, coroner says

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — October 13, 2026 A 35-year-old woman from Leesville died Tuesday morning after a head-on collision on Fairview Road, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

Hillary Rain Rish was pronounced dead at the scene following the two-vehicle crash near the intersection of TA Ford Road on Fairview Road/US-178 shortly after 7 a.m. Authorities said Rish was traveling west in a Dodge Durango when it collided head-on with an eastbound Chevy Malibu. Two people inside the Malibu were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials have not yet released further details about how the crash occurred, and the investigation remains active.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Head-on collisions happen less often than many other crash types, yet they produce a high share of deaths and serious injuries because the forces from both vehicles combine at the point of impact. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration figures show 39,345 people lost their lives in traffic crashes across the United States in 2024.

National legal analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, stressed that in cases such as this an independent review by an experienced attorney is essential to safeguard the family’s interests. “Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the family of the victim must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently,” Bond said. She noted that accident reconstruction specialists are sometimes brought in to help determine the sequence of events leading up to and following a collision.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation, the family of Hillary Rain Rish may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives in such matters can seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a fatal crash.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, observed that the emotional toll after losing a loved one in a traffic incident can be profound. “The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” Formica said. “A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that the victim’s legal rights and best interests are protected.”
