Denton Knobloch injured in Mallard semi-truck crash, ISP reports

MALLARD, IA (October 19, 2026) A collision involving a Ford F-150 pickup and a Peterbilt tractor-trailer left 57-year-old Denton Knobloch injured Monday evening at the intersection of 500th Street and 525th Avenue in Mallard, Iowa.

According to the Iowa State Patrol (ISP), the crash occurred at approximately 7:42 p.m. The tractor-trailer reportedly did not see Knobloch’s pickup before the vehicles collided at the intersection.

Knobloch was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not provided additional details about the extent of his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.

SEMI-TRUCK CRASH INVESTIGATION

Collisions involving commercial trucks can require an extensive review because vehicle size, stopping distances, driver visibility, mechanical condition and roadway circumstances may all be relevant. Investigators may examine the crash scene, vehicle damage, driver statements and available records to determine how the collision occurred.

Candice Bond, an experienced attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of conducting a thorough investigation into commercial vehicle accidents. In cases such as this, a detailed review of the evidence may help establish the sequence of events and identify any contributing factors.

Investigators may also examine the truck driver’s records, applicable company documentation, vehicle maintenance history and witness accounts where relevant. Reviewing available evidence promptly can help preserve information that may otherwise become difficult to obtain.

The Iowa State Patrol’s investigation will be important in clarifying the circumstances that led to the collision. No final determination of fault has been reported.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the investigation’s findings and the circumstances of the collision, Knobloch may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim against a legally responsible party.

Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal, has discussed the financial and personal consequences that can follow a serious accident. In cases such as this, an injured person may need to consider both immediate medical expenses and potential future costs associated with treatment and recovery.

If supported by the evidence and applicable law, a personal injury claim may seek compensation for medical bills, future medical care, lost earnings, reduced earning capacity, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

Determining whether compensation is available generally requires an assessment of the evidence, the injuries sustained, applicable insurance coverage and the legal responsibility of the parties involved. Any potential recovery in Knobloch’s case will depend on the facts established through the investigation and the applicable law.
