Danielle Antich killed in Manhattan Beach crash: Police say

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — October 9, 2026 Danielle Antich, a 24-year-old resident of Hermosa Beach, died in a collision involving four vehicles at the intersection of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard. Several other people sustained injuries in the crash, according to the available report.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2026, when a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man struck another car at the intersection. The impact sent both vehicles into two additional vehicles, including an SUV operated by the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

The vehicles involved were identified as a Tesla SUV, a Toyota Corolla, a pickup truck and a police SUV. Antich was riding as a passenger in the police vehicle and died at the scene.

Several people, including the police officer and the 35-year-old driver, were taken to hospitals for medical treatment. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner reported that Antich died from blunt force injuries.

The 35-year-old driver was booked into jail on multiple charges, including driving under the influence causing bodily injury and hit-and-run causing death or serious injury. The allegations remain subject to the legal process.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the four-vehicle collision. Investigators will need to establish how the initial impact occurred, what caused the vehicles to collide with one another and whether impairment or other factors contributed to the crash.

The investigation may involve reviewing witness accounts, vehicle damage, physical evidence from the scene and available records concerning the driver’s condition. Toxicology or blood-alcohol testing results, if obtained and released, could also help clarify whether impairment played a role.

Candice Bond, a managing partner at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, has discussed the importance of investigating suspected impaired-driving collisions. In cases such as this, a thorough review of the evidence can help establish the sequence of events and determine whether negligent or unlawful conduct contributed to the fatal outcome.

Criminal proceedings and a potential civil case are separate matters. The outcome of the investigation may help determine whether further charges are warranted and whether surviving family members have grounds to seek compensation.

The investigation remained ongoing in the published report, and the available information does not establish a final determination of fault.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the evidence and the outcome of the investigation, Danielle Antich’s eligible surviving family members may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim against any party whose negligence or wrongful conduct contributed to her death.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst, has explained that wrongful death cases can arise when a person’s death results from another party’s negligent or wrongful actions. In a motor vehicle collision, potential liability may depend on evidence of impaired driving, unsafe vehicle operation or other breaches of a driver’s legal duties.

A civil claim may allow eligible family members to seek damages for losses associated with the death. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, these damages may include funeral and burial expenses, loss of financial support, loss of companionship and other legally recoverable losses.

In cases such as this, reviewing police reports, medical examiner findings, witness statements and other available evidence can help clarify potential liability. A qualified attorney may also help the family understand applicable deadlines, insurance coverage and the documentation required to evaluate a claim.

Any civil recovery would depend on the facts established, the applicable law and the evidence connecting a responsible party’s conduct to the death. A potential claim does not itself establish liability.
