Benjamin Simons killed in Route 64 crash, according to police

CAMPTON HILLS, IL — October 21, 2026 Benjamin D. Simons, 35, of Sycamore, Illinois, died after a two-vehicle collision on Illinois Route 64 west of Brown Road in Campton Hills on Wednesday morning, authorities reported.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:16 a.m. and involved a 2026 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Simons and a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a trailer carrying a Truxor amphibious machine, according to the Campton Hills Police Department.

Simons was the sole occupant of the Nissan Pathfinder. Emergency responders transported him to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he later died from his injuries.

The Dodge Ram’s driver, a 38-year-old man, was also taken to the hospital. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office subsequently identified Simons and reported that a preliminary autopsy examination found multiple injuries consistent with the vehicle collision. Toxicology samples were collected for further laboratory testing.

Authorities have not released a final determination regarding the circumstances that led to the crash.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

When a fatal traffic collision results in a death, eligible family members may have grounds to explore a wrongful death claim, depending on the circumstances and applicable Illinois law.

A potential claim may involve examining whether another party’s negligence contributed to the collision and whether the available evidence supports legal responsibility. Relevant records can include the official crash report, medical documentation, autopsy findings and expert analysis.

The possibility of compensation depends on the facts of the case, the applicable legal requirements and the evidence establishing liability and damages. No civil claim or legal outcome has been confirmed in connection with this collision.

Families considering their legal options may consult a qualified Illinois attorney to understand their rights, applicable deadlines and available remedies.
