Alfred Moss Dies After Motorcycle Crash on Georgia 9

DAWSON COUNTY, GA — October 25, 2026 A three-vehicle collision on Georgia Highway 9 near Bannister Road claimed the life of 50-year-old Alfred Moss of Grayson, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Troopers reported that the crash occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. Sunday as a northbound motorcycle traveled along Georgia 9, with an SUV following behind and a minivan ahead.

According to the preliminary account, the SUV struck the motorcycle from behind, throwing Moss from the bike. The motorcycle became caught in the SUV’s front grille and bumper before being propelled into the minivan.

Moss sustained fatal injuries. The 18-year-old Gainesville man driving the SUV and the minivan’s driver both suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and received treatment at the scene.

Authorities said charges were pending against the SUV driver. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the fatal collision to establish the sequence of events and determine the factors that contributed to the crash. Investigators may examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness accounts and other available information to reconstruct the collision.

Motorcycle riders face significant risks in collisions because they lack the structural protection provided by passenger vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported 6,335 motorcyclist fatalities nationwide in 2023, underscoring the serious consequences of motorcycle crashes.

Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News, has highlighted the importance of examining potential contributing factors in serious motorcycle collisions. In cases such as this, an independent investigation may help clarify whether driver inattention, following distance, visibility or other circumstances played a role. These are possible investigative considerations, not established causes of the Dawson County crash.

A thorough review of the evidence can also help establish accountability and protect the legal interests of the victim’s family.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Following the investigation, eligible members of Alfred Moss’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim if evidence establishes that another party’s negligence contributed to the fatal collision.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News, has emphasized the importance of protecting families’ legal rights after a fatal accident. In cases such as this, a wrongful death attorney may help relatives understand their legal options, monitor the investigation and evaluate whether a civil claim is appropriate.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable Georgia law, recoverable damages may include losses associated with the death and other legally recognized harm. Eligibility and the scope of any potential recovery depend on the evidence, the relationship to the deceased and the applicable legal requirements.

The ongoing investigation will be important in determining the circumstances of the collision and whether any civil liability may arise.
