LAURENS COUNTY— Mary Anderson, age 84, died on March 25 in a crash at the intersection of Flymm Smith Road and River Fork Road.
Authorities reported Anderson was eastbound on Flymm Smith when her vehicle collided with a pickup heading south on River Fork. The crash happened shortly after 6 p.m.
Emergency responders pronounced Anderson dead at the scene.
The pickup driver was transported to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
Both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System, there were 33,654 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2018 in which 36,560 deaths occurred. This resulted in 11.2 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.13 deaths per 100 million miles traveled.
