LUBBOCK, Texas — Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle accident that killed one man and injured two others, officials said.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash along CR-242 near U.S. 385 at 9:30 p.m. A pickup truck traveled through the intersection and struck a vehicle, reports said. The impact severely damaged both vehicles and injured the occupants.
Zack Rankin, 19, was was identified as the driver of the vehicle that was struck. Emergency responders transported him to UMC, where he was pronounced dead. Officials said his passenger, a 20-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and is in stable condition.
The pickup truck’s driver, a 36-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. Investigators confirmed that Rankin and his passenger were unrestrained.
