Virginia Driscoll killed in Livermore pickup truck collision

LIVERMORE, CA, (May 07, 2026) – A Walnut Creek woman died following a two-vehicle crash late May 7 in unincorporated Livermore, according to authorities.

The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as 58-year-old Virginia Lynn Driscoll.

Investigators said Driscoll was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on Vasco Road shortly after 11 p.m. when her vehicle collided with a GMC Canyon pickup truck. Authorities said the pickup was attempting to make a left turn from Old Vasco Road onto southbound Vasco Road at the time of the crash.

Driscoll suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died on May 8.

Officials said the occupants of the GMC Canyon were also taken to a hospital with injuries, though the severity of those injuries has not been disclosed.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

A number of factors continue to contribute to rising traffic fatalities, including reckless driver behavior such as speeding, distracted driving, and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 8,055 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

As investigators work to determine the exact cause of the collision and any potential liability, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is especially critical in cases like this, and it is important that evidence is preserved and reviewed promptly on behalf of the victim’s family,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Virginia Lynn Driscoll may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for emotional distress, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship following a tragic accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal. “If you have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence, contact a wrongful death attorney and get the guidance needed to obtain the justice you deserve.”

“Insurance companies may attempt to take advantage of families unfamiliar with the legal process by offering inadequate settlements or denying claims altogether,” Formica added. “An attorney can help safeguard your rights and ensure fair treatment throughout the process.”
