Tractor-trailer crash in York County kills Adams and Twitty: SCHP

YORK, SC (March 28, 2026) — Two people were killed Saturday afternoon in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in York County.

Authorities identified the victims as Rachel Adams, 49, and George Junior Twitty, 44, both of Lancaster.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on S.C. Highway 72 at the intersection with Autumnwood Road.

Adams and Twitty were traveling north in a Chevy SUV when they attempted to turn and collided head-on with a southbound tractor-trailer. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Several factors contribute to the rise in traffic fatalities, with driver behavior playing a central role. Speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving—particularly cellphone use—are among the leading causes. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 8,055 lives were lost in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

As authorities work to determine the cause of the crash, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation by a skilled attorney.

“In addition to the work conducted by law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, analyze surveillance footage, and obtain phone and texting records of the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

Time is critical in these cases, and it is essential that evidence is reviewed promptly and thoroughly.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of the victims killed in the crash may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such a catastrophic accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only emotionally devastating but can also have financial consequences,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If you have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence, it is important to seek guidance from a wrongful death attorney to help secure the justice and compensation you deserve.”
