CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Authorities are expected to release a complete report following a thorough investigation into the crash that claimed the life of Ms. Smith.

Candice Bond emphasized that crashes of this nature often require an independent investigation by a qualified law firm to help preserve evidence and safeguard the rights of a grieving family.

“Beyond the efforts of law enforcement, an attorney may re-interview key witnesses, review surveillance footage from the crash scene, and secure phone and text records from the at-fault party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Acting as an advocate, an attorney can compassionately assist a family during this difficult time while ensuring their legal rights and interests are protected.”

Each year, approximately 36,000 people are killed and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle accidents nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the leading cause of fatal crashes last year, followed by impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication; failure to maintain proper lanes; failure to yield; and distracted driving.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The surviving family members of Yvette Smith may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. In such cases, families may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from a fatal accident.

“We recognize the immense challenges families face after losing a loved one, and protecting their rights is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney can stay informed on the progress of the investigation and work to ensure that a family’s legal interests are fully represented. Relatives of wrongful death victims may pursue damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
