CHP: Rosada Haines killed in LA chain-reaction accident

LOS ANGELES, CA, (April 22, 2026) – A 61-year-old woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Authorities identified the victim as Rosada Haines. The collision occurred at approximately 1:36 a.m. near the Valley Circle Boulevard exit in the Woodland Hills area.

CHP officers arriving at the scene found a sedan and an SUV stopped in the middle lanes of the freeway. A second sedan and a Dodge Charger were also involved in a separate collision a short distance away.

Haines was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not yet determined which vehicle she occupied at the time of the crash.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause and sequence of events leading up to the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The CHP is expected to release a comprehensive report as the investigation into the crash that claimed Ms. Haines’ life progresses.

In the interim, Candice Bond emphasized that accidents of this magnitude often require an independent investigation by an experienced law firm to preserve evidence and safeguard the rights of the victim’s family.

“Beyond the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine key witness statements, review surveillance footage from the crash site, and obtain phone and messaging records of the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Serving as an advocate, legal counsel can help guide a grieving family through this difficult period while ensuring their legal rights and interests are protected.”

Each year, approximately 36,000 people lose their lives and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle accidents across the United States. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that speeding remains the leading cause of fatal crashes, followed by impairment due to alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane position, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Rosada Haines may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following a tragic accident.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said, “We recognize the profound challenges families face after losing a loved one, and protecting their rights is essential.”

She added, “A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Families may pursue damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after such incidents.”
