CLINTON COUNTY, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash on July 8 that occurred at Iowa 136 and 380th Avenue.
Riley Reed, 31, of Charlotte sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to Mercy One Clinton hospital. A 51-year-old Miles woman died in the accident at the rural intersection.
The crash occurred at 1:46 p.m. as the 51-year-old driver traveled south on 380th Avenue in a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. She failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection with the highway.
Reed was driving a 2014 Ford Flex eastbound on Iowa 136 when the collision occurred. The Oldsmobile struck Reed’s vehicle after running the stop.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Preston Ambulance transported Reed to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The Oldsmobile driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clinton County Medical Examiner transported her body to the State Medical Examiner’s office.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Goose Lake Fire Department assisted the Iowa State Patrol with the emergency response.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and required towing from the site.
The collision remains under investigation by Iowa State Patrol.
