Raymond Carder killed in Huntsville head-on accident; police report

HUNTSVILLE, AL, (April 26, 2026) – A 76-year-old Huntsville man was killed early Sunday morning in a head-on collision involving two vehicles in Huntsville.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 2:31 a.m. on Research Park Boulevard near the Plummer Road exit. Authorities said the collision involved two cars traveling in opposite directions.

Raymond Gay Carder, 76, of Huntsville, was identified as one of the drivers and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.

Officials said no charges have been filed at this time as investigators continue to examine the factors that contributed to the crash.

The Huntsville Police Department is actively investigating the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Head-on collisions are relatively uncommon, accounting for about 2% of crashes nationwide. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notes they are among the deadliest, contributing to approximately 28.7% of traffic fatalities.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized that cases like this require a thorough independent investigation to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

“Timely action is critical in situations such as this, and it is important that evidence is carefully reviewed,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“In some instances, an accident reconstruction team may be necessary to determine exactly what occurred. These resources are vital in helping families pursue compensation for losses resulting from a serious collision,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Raymond Gay Carder may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this incident.

“The emotional strain and grief after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We recognize the difficulties families endure, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the official investigation and work to ensure that the family’s best interests are fully protected.”
