MORRISON COUNTY, Minn. – The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Swan River Township on July 8.
The collision occurred at 4:44 p.m. at Highway 238 and 90th Street when a Volkswagen traveling westbound on 90th Street failed to stop at the intersection. The vehicle struck a Chevrolet Malibu traveling southbound on Highway 238.
Paula Vasquez-Santos, 46, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to CentraCare St. Cloud for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. A 49-year-old Upsala man also rode in the Volkswagen and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews transported him to CHI St. Gabriel’s Health for medical care.
The Chevrolet carried four occupants from Little Falls, including a 46-year-old woman driver and three passengers ages 46, 17, and 15. All four sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to CHI St. Gabriel’s Health.
Both vehicles deployed airbags during the impact on dry road conditions. All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not involved in the crash.
Multiple agencies responded to the intersection accident. Bowlus Fire and Rescue, Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted with the emergency response.
The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate.
