DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A postal worker discovered a man’s body along a highway Monday morning, sparking a hit-and-run investigation, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
Noah Inman, 25, of Duplin County was found dead in a ditch off NC 24. A postal worker delivering mail made the discovery just before 9 a.m.
The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office received the call from the postal worker. Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Troopers confirmed vehicle parts were found nearby. No vehicle remained at the scene when officers arrived.
The sheriff’s office said Inman was already dead when troopers reached the location. Officers determined the Duplin County man had been struck by a vehicle.
The Highway Patrol is leading the an investigation. Authorities continue searching for evidence and seek information about the driver.
