PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 74-year-old Holgate woman died Sunday in a head-on collision that injured two other people in Putnam County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Nancy Gerken was killed when another driver crossed the centerline and struck her vehicle head-on just before noon on June 8. The crash occurred near Ohio 65 and Road M in Pleasant Township, near Ottawa.
A 43-year-old Ottawa woman was driving north when she entered oncoming traffic and collided with Gerken’s vehicle. Gerken died at the scene from her injuries.
Gerken’s 13-year-old passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The northbound driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, investigators said.
The cause of why the crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
