Morgan County pedestrian crash kills 71-year-old Edward Pointer

MORGAN, AL, (December 05, 2025) – A 71-year-old man was killed Friday night in a pedestrian crash in Morgan County.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Edward James Pointer was struck by a vehicle on Highway 31 near the Wavaho gas station. Pointer died at the scene despite emergency efforts. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Pedestrian travel remains common, yet data from the Governors Highway Safety Association shows it has become increasingly dangerous in recent years, contributing to significant loss and hardship.

Pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. have risen 4% since 2008 and now account for 16% of all traffic-related deaths, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.

“Having access to the proper investigative resources is crucial in a pedestrian accident case to help determine liability,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“An attorney will thoroughly analyze what factors may have played a role in the crash and has the ability to bring in expert witnesses, identify witnesses at the scene, and examine applicable insurance coverage,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Road conditions, lighting, signage visibility, and other environmental elements must be carefully evaluated. These steps are vital in helping families who have lost a loved one pursue the justice they deserve.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Edward James Pointer may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages following a tragic incident like this.

“The grief and devastation after losing a loved one can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face, and it’s essential to ensure their rights are protected. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and work to safeguard the family’s legal interests.”
