Lakesha Marbury killed in Franklin County after vehicle hits pole Ohio

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, OH, (April 23, 2026) – A 43-year-old woman lost her life early Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle collision at a Franklin County intersection, authorities said.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a northbound 2015 Honda Pilot and an eastbound 2015 Acura TLX collided at the intersection of N. Waggoner Road and Havens Corners Road at approximately 5:50 a.m. After the impact, both vehicles traveled off the roadway on the northwest side.

Officials said the Acura struck a utility pole, snapping it and causing live wires to fall onto the Honda. The driver of the Honda, identified as Lakesha Marbury, was pronounced dead at 6:55 a.m. by Jefferson Township Fire Department medics.

The Acura driver was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

AEP Ohio crews responded to the scene to shut down power lines and secure the area. Investigators noted that one of the vehicles may have run a traffic signal, though details remain unclear. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit is continuing to examine the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Each year, millions of people suffer injuries in motor vehicle accidents across the U.S., many of them severe. In 2023 alone, approximately 2.44 million individuals were injured in crashes nationwide, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As officials continue to determine the cause of this crash, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

“Alongside the efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage, and obtain phone and texting records of the potentially liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is critical in cases like these, and it is essential that the victim’s family ensures all evidence is examined promptly and thoroughly,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the victim’s family may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the emotional and financial strain following a serious crash can be overwhelming and affect every area of life.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim, as legal representation allows for effective negotiation with insurance companies,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to push victims into accepting quick settlements that are far below what a case may truly be worth. An attorney, however, will strongly advocate for their client to help ensure fair treatment and proper compensation,” he added.
