NORTH BABYLON, N.Y. — Two women were hospitalized after an alleged drunken driver struck their vehicle Wednesday evening on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Deer Park Avenue and Garnet Street around 7:45 p.m. A 20-year-old Patchogue man driving a 2023 Tesla sedan southbound on Deer Park Avenue struck a 2018 Ford SUV traveling westbound on Garnet Street.
The Ford’s driver, Kiara Groce, 22, and her passenger, Emily Groce, 22, both of Bay Shore, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. North Babylon Rescue transported both women to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment.
Police arrested the Tesla driver for driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs.
Suffolk County Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
