MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal bus accident that occurred on May 26 along Highway 70. The crash resulted in multiple injuries and two deaths.
At around 6:20 p.m., a 2013 Prevost Greyhound bus traveling from Memphis to Nashville struck a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck. The bus veered off the roadway into a ditch, while the Chevrolet caught fire and stopped on the highway shoulder.
John Davis, 56, was inside the Chevrolet at the time of the accident. Emergency responders arrived and confirmed he suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
A passenger on the Greyhound, a 60-year-old Colorado man, also lost his life in the accident.
Troopers said that 27 were transported by EMS to area hospitals for treatment, while others received medical care at the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by TSP.
