CASTLE ROCK, WA, (May 31, 2026) — Two Oregon men were hospitalized Sunday night following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. near milepost 51 in Castle Rock. A Chevrolet Silverado transporting a Toyota Prius southbound on I-5 was struck in its trailer by a Toyota Corolla.
Investigators said the impact pushed the trailer and the Prius into the rear of the Silverado, causing significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The driver of the Silverado, Jay Silva, 34, of Oregon City, and passenger Abdullah Azimi, 19, of Hillsboro, were injured in the crash. Both men were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview with injuries that were not specified by authorities.
The Washington State Patrol noted that Silva and Azimi were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 19-year-old Longview resident, was not injured. Troopers cited the driver for second-degree negligent driving.
