THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a high-speed accident that killed one man and injured another. The Georgia State Patrol responded to the crash on May 29 at 1:30 p.m. near Remington Avenue and Broad Street.
A 34-year-old man driving a Lincoln MKS fled from a traffic stop before losing control of the vehicle. It veered off the road and crashed into a driveway culvert, overturning multiple times.
James Roberts, driving the Lincoln MKS, was ejected as the vehicle flipped. Emergency responders transported him to Archbold Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Officials said his passenger, a 20-year-old man, suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed a post-crash investigation uncovered marijuana, THC products, and cocaine inside the vehicle. Officials said the patrol car did not make contact with the fleeing vehicle.
