Jameila Walker Dies After Being Hit in Auburn Roadway Collision

AUBURN, WA, (April 18, 2026) — A woman was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian crash in Auburn, according to police and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at the intersection of South 277th Street and 86th Avenue. A westbound vehicle struck a woman who was in the roadway at the time.

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Jameila Rose Walker, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, she later died at the hospital. Officials confirmed her cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries.

No additional details regarding the driver or circumstances of the crash have been released at this time.

The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Each year, thousands of pedestrians are killed on U.S. roadways, reflecting a growing public safety crisis influenced by speeding, driver negligence, and infrastructure not designed with pedestrians in mind. Between 2009 and 2023, pedestrian fatalities increased by 80%, compared to a 13% rise in all other traffic deaths, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA).

“In most instances, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing at intersections or roadways, whether or not a marked crosswalk is present,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized that an independent investigation is often critical in cases like this to ensure all factors are properly reviewed and the rights of the victim’s family are protected.

Road conditions, visibility, traffic control devices, and lighting conditions are all factors that must be carefully examined. Such investigations are essential in helping families pursue justice and accountability.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Jameila Rose Walker may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to push early settlements for far less than a case is worth,” he noted. “An attorney will aggressively advocate for the family to ensure they are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation.”
