ALEXANDER, N.C. — Two Asheville bicyclists died Monday in a collision involving a dump truck along N.C. 251 in Madison County.
Jacob Hill, 32, and a 27-year-old Asheville man were killed in the collision, according to 1st Sgt. Scott Smith with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. A third bicyclist was also struck and transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The collision occurred within five miles of the Buncombe County border just before 6:45 p.m. Monday.
Smith said potential charges remain pending against the driver while the investigation continues. The third bicyclist’s identity has not been released.
