BAKERSFIELD, CA, (April 15, 2026) — A 17-year-old Bakersfield teenager was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash late Tuesday night while riding an electric bike, according to the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD).
Isaiah Jeffers was traveling westbound on Planz Road near South Chester Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. when a vehicle struck him from behind. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision.
Jeffers was dragged several yards along the roadway, suffering severe road rash, a fractured knee, and significant facial injuries that required surgery and skin graft procedures. He was transported to a hospital and is expected to face a lengthy recovery.
The driver fled the scene at high speed and has not yet been identified. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The Bakersfield Police Traffic Division continues to investigate the incident.
