Huntington Woman Kristy Manley Dies After I-64 Pedestrian Crash

HUNTINGTON, WV, June 10, 2026 — A 36-year-old Huntington woman died Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 64 west, according to the West Virginia State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 9:15 p.m. to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near the 29th Street exit. The victim, identified as Kristy L. Manley of Huntington, was found lying in a westbound lane of the interstate. The driver, a 61-year-old man from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, stopped immediately after the collision and began administering CPR while awaiting the arrival of emergency responders.

Cabell County EMS transported Manley to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.

West Virginia State Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the West Virginia State Police directly.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Pedestrian fatalities continue to claim thousands of lives on American roads each year. According to a report by the Governors Highway Safety Association, approximately 3,304 pedestrians were struck and killed by drivers on U.S. roads in the first half of 2024 alone.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve,” Bond added.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, noting that the family of a victim in a case such as this may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident,” Formica explained.

A compassionate and experienced attorney can serve as a steady advocate, guiding a grieving family through this extraordinarily difficult period while working diligently to protect their legal rights every step of the way.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth,” Formica cautioned. “However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
