Driver charged after fatal crash kills Vicki Noon in Bradenton

BRADENTON, FL, (May 01, 2026) – Vicki Noon, 77, was tragically killed Friday afternoon in a hit-and-run crash in Bradenton, authorities reported.

According to police, Noon was in the yard of her home in the 5600 block of 11th Avenue West at approximately 1 p.m. when a vehicle veered off the roadway and struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a gold sedan flee the area after the collision. Officers canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance footage, and a sergeant later located the suspected vehicle at a residence in the 7200 block of 13th Avenue West, within walking distance of the crash site.

Police identified 40-year-old Jordan Beard at the residence. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death. Authorities indicated that additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

Neighbors described Noon as a kind and caring woman who previously worked as a nurse. Residents also noted that speeding has become an increasing concern in the otherwise quiet neighborhood.

FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Candice Bond, a seasoned hit-and-run accident attorney, shared insight regarding cases like this.

“Separate from any criminal proceedings, a victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil action against the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Alongside law enforcement efforts, an attorney can revisit key witnesses, review surveillance footage, and secure phone and text records of the at-fault individual.”

Bond further stated, “Acting as an advocate, an attorney can help guide families through this difficult time, ensuring their rights are protected while holding negligent drivers accountable.”

There were an estimated 737,100 hit-and-run crashes in the United States in 2015, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), equating to one every 43 seconds. The NHTSA also reported that 2,049 fatalities from such crashes in 2016 marked the highest number ever recorded.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Vicki Noon may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim seeking damages for loss of companionship, funeral costs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“It is essential for families to retain legal representation when pursuing a wrongful death claim, as attorneys can negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance providers often attempt to secure quick settlements that may undervalue a case. An attorney will advocate to ensure clients are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation.”
