LEE, FL, (May 17, 2026) – A 21-year-old Bradenton woman was killed early Sunday morning in a wrong-way DUI crash involving a pickup truck on Interstate 75 in North Fort Myers, authorities said.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the suspect as Dennis Lee Olson, who was later arrested in connection with the crash.
Investigators said Olson was driving a Ford F-150 southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75 around 1:13 a.m. when he struck a Honda CRV carrying the victim. The impact proved fatal, and the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Olson’s vehicle also collided with a Kia Optima following the initial crash.
Three occupants inside the Kia sustained serious injuries, including a 34-year-old Arcadia woman and two boys aged 12 and 15. All were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Olson was arrested and faces charges including vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
