MONROE, Mich. — A vehicle struck two people crossing North Dixie Highway near Interstate 75 around 9:44 p.m. on June 21 leaving both injured.
Connie Cosby, 40, of Monroe, was walking near the center turn lane when a blue four-door Ford sedan hit her. A 40-year-old Monroe man walking beside her also suffered serious injuries during the impact, according to sheriff’s officials.
Paramedics transported both victims to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital in Trenton, where they remained in critical condition the next day.
The vehicle fled northbound on North Dixie Highway, leaving behind its driver’s side mirror at the scene.
Witnesses told deputies the car was swerving before the accident.
Investigators urge anyone with knowledge of the vehicle’s whereabouts to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
