CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Cape Coral Police Department continues to investigate the cause of a two-vehicle crash on June 3 that claimed the lives of a father and son.
The accident occurred along the Veterans Memorial Parkway. Officers said a vehicle collided with another on the roadway. The impact forced one car off the road and into a lake near Surfside Boulevard.
Christopher Patrick was driving when the vehicle entered the water. His passenger, 12-year-old Carson Patrick, was pulled from the submerged car but did not survive. Officials confirmed Christopher was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed.
Authorities have not released details about the second vehicle involved in the accident. Officials have not shared additional information.
A fundraiser was established to support the families of the victims.
