Chelsea Miller dies after Jeep crosses lane in OH crash, OSHP says

PERRY TWP, OH, (April 14, 2026) – A Lisbon woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Perry Township, according to authorities.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Chelsea Miller, 35, was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue on State Route 173 at approximately 2:40 p.m. when a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the center line near mile marker 11 and struck her vehicle.

Miller was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. The 78-year-old Salem woman driving the Jeep sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 1,242 people died in motor vehicle crashes in Ohio in 2023.

Speeding remains the leading cause of fatal crashes, followed by impairment due to alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane position, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

According to Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, failure-to-yield crashes are often linked to driver negligence, including distraction, impatience, or reckless behavior.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all factors that must be carefully evaluated,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“In certain cases, accident reconstruction specialists are needed to determine exactly how the collision occurred. These resources are critical for helping victims recover compensation for their losses,” added Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Independent investigations are often conducted by insurance companies or involved parties to determine liability. These investigations analyze the underlying causes of a crash to establish financial responsibility.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Chelsea Miller may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Damages may include compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“The grief and stress following the loss of a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families endure during such difficult times, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and work to safeguard the family’s legal interests.”
