CHARLOTTE, NC, (April 22, 2026) – A 24-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a collision earlier this week in Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said the crash occurred around 12:43 a.m. on April 19 at the 500 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard near McCullough Drive. Responding officers located a Toyota Corolla with front-end damage and a heavily damaged BMW motorcycle.
The rider, identified as Pablo Daniel Martinez De La Torre, was found near the motorcycle suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died on April 22.
Preliminary findings indicate the Toyota attempted a left turn onto McCullough Drive and collided with the oncoming motorcycle. Authorities are also evaluating whether speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
Investigators reported that the driver of the Toyota was not impaired and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
