LEWISBURG, Tenn. — A 35-year-old woman died the night of June 6 after being struck by a vehicle in Lewisburg.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Cathy Buttrey was killed when she tried to run across Highway 50 in front of an eastbound vehicle. It happened near the intersection with State Route 431.
The driver was approaching a green light at the intersection when Buttrey attempted to cross the highway. The driver swerved into the bike lane to avoid hitting Buttrey but was unable to prevent the collision.
Buttrey suffered fatal injuries.
The driver was not injured in the incident and is not facing charges, according to THP’s preliminary report.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
