ERATH, La. — A 35-year-old woman died Friday night when a vehicle struck her along Louisiana Highway 14 near Callahan Street.
Carol Polk of Erath was walking in the westbound lane of the highway just after 11 p.m., Louisiana State Police said in a Facebook post. A 2021 Nissan SUV traveling west on the same roadway struck Polk. The collision occurred in Vermilion Parish.
Polk was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan’s driver wore a seatbelt and was not injured. Troopers determined that the driver showed no signs of impairment after administering a voluntary breath test.
Louisiana State Police Troop I continues investigating the fatal accident.
The post urged pedestrians to wear light-colored or reflective clothing during nighttime hours.
