PARIS, N.Y. – New York State Police are investigating a three-vehicle collision in the Town of Paris on Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Route 8 near Larson Road when an SUV following too closely struck a vehicle ahead. The impact pushed the struck vehicle into oncoming traffic, causing a chain-reaction collision.
Bobbi Tompkins, 48, of Hubbardsville drove the SUV and caused the accident by following too closely, police said. Officers cited her for following too closely and driving at a speed that was not reasonable and prudent.
All three drivers and two passengers sustained injuries in the multi-vehicle crash. Emergency crews transported the injured parties to area hospitals for treatment. One person required airlift transportation to a Syracuse hospital due to the severity of injuries.
New York State Police continue investigating the collision.
