Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Kills Jared Jon Harper, CHP Says

HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than one in ten fatal crashes in California involve a hit-and-run driver.

From 2017 through 2021, California recorded 18,137 fatal crashes, with 1,901 of those, or 10.48 percent, classified as hit-and-run incidents. This is the highest number of fatal hit-and-run crashes nationwide and far exceeds the national average of 6.33 percent.
