Alezander Cruz charged after Georgetown crash injures Chauncey Walden

GEORGETOWN, TX, (Nov. 23, 2025) – A 50-year-old worker was injured Sunday afternoon after an impaired driver triggered a multi-vehicle crash on Kelley Drive in Georgetown, Texas.

According to authorities, a Ford Escape heading south on Kelley Drive near Westinghouse Road around 2:30 p.m. struck an Oncor utility truck that was working in the area. The impact pushed the truck into another vehicle, causing three workers standing between the trucks to be hit.

One of the workers, identified as Chauncey Walden, was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the Ford Escape, Alezander Cruz, a 20-year-old Austin resident, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Williamson County Jail. Authorities said charges include intoxication assault.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), approximately 300,000 people are injured each year in alcohol-related crashes across the United States. Impaired drivers often experience reduced coordination, slower reaction times, and impaired judgment, all of which heighten the risk of serious collisions.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, offered insight regarding incidents like this one.

“Separate from the criminal process, an injured victim may also pursue compensation through a civil lawsuit against the at-fault party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Beyond the findings of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and secure phone or text data from the liable driver. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can guide victims with compassion, ensuring their rights are protected while helping hold impaired drivers accountable.”

Vehicle crashes injure nearly 1.9 million individuals across the country each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Common causes include alcohol or drug impairment, speeding, distraction, and failure to yield or maintain lanes.

“Acting quickly is crucial in cases like this, as key evidence must be preserved and examined efficiently,” Bond added. “An attorney can support victims through this difficult time, safeguarding their rights and best interests.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Chauncey Walden may pursue a personal injury claim to recover damages such as medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“Injured victims involved in a collision often file a personal injury claim to help cover these significant expenses,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance carriers can be difficult to deal with and may disregard the financial burden placed on the injured party. An attorney can step in to protect victims, ensuring the insurance companies are held accountable and provide the compensation that is owed.”
