VERNON CENTER TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A teenage girl died Thursday evening after two vehicles collided head-on along a rural stretch of U.S. Highway 169, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The accident occurred around 6:07 p.m. near 150th Street in Blue Earth County under dry road conditions.
MSP said that 31-year-old Alexei Moreira of Houston, Texas, was driving a 2014 Ram pickup north on the highway when a southbound 2003 Honda Accord approached. Troopers said the vehicles collided in the northbound lane. Both airbags deployed during the impact.
Moreira wore a seat belt and did not report injuries at the scene. The 16-year-old female driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blue Earth County deputies and Vernon Center Fire responded to assist with the crash scene and traffic control.
The Minnesota State Patrol is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident and has not released any additional information.
