CHICAGO — A 66-year-old man was critically injured June 7 when a driver struck him and fled the scene in the Loop.
Alex Olmedo II, of Southern California, was hit by a white sedan in the 100 block of S. Michigan Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. He had walked into the roadway while attempting to grab his friend’s dog when the collision occurred.
Chicago police responded to reports of the hit-and-run crash involving the pedestrian and vehicle. The driver of the car did not stop following the collision and continued driving from the scene.
Emergency responders transported Olmedo to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He suffered a head injury in the crash and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Chicago police have launched an investigation into the hit-and-run incident. Officers are searching for the driver who allegedly fled the scene after striking Olmedo.
