GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A car struck a motorcycle on Mountain View Road at Buice Circle on June 18 causing serious injury to the motorcyclist.
At around 11:30 a.m., a 25-year-old man from Gainesville was driving a sedan and attempted to turn left at the intersection. His vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck the motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.
Aiden Tomberlin, age 20, rode a Honda motorcycle and was ejected when the car moved into his path.
Emergency responders transported him with severe injuries. Doctors amputated one leg above the knee and treated a fractured femur. He also sustained spinal damage. Doctors at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta are continuing his treatment.
Officials said Tomberlin may regain mobility due to his age and rehabilitation potential.
Family and friends have organized a fundraiser to help support his recovery.
