Greenville County crash claims life of Bryan Thompson

GREENVILLE, SC — November 2, 2026 A three-vehicle collision along Old White Horse Road in Greenville County left two people dead and three others injured Monday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 9600 block of Old White Horse Road, near Keeler Mill Road. Investigators reported that a southbound 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the centerline.

The Camaro first sideswiped an oncoming 2024 Nissan Altima before colliding head-on with a 2022 Ford F-150 traveling in the opposite direction.

Following the impact, the Camaro left the roadway, entered a ditch and overturned. The Ford pickup was pushed off the road in the opposite direction and struck a tree.

Bryan Thompson, 32, was riding as a passenger in the Ford F-150. He sustained multiple blunt-force injuries and died while being transported to a hospital. A second passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The drivers of all three vehicles sustained injuries and were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

Authorities are working to establish the events that led to the fatal collision, including the Camaro’s speed, its movement across the centerline and the sequence of impacts involving the three vehicles.

In head-on collisions, determining how a vehicle enters the opposing lane is an important part of the investigative process. Factors such as driver behavior, speed, roadway conditions, visibility and vehicle positioning may help investigators reconstruct the events.

National Legal Analyst Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, has emphasized the importance of examining road conditions, lighting and visibility when investigating serious motor vehicle collisions.

In cases such as this, a detailed accident reconstruction may help establish the vehicles’ movements, identify contributing circumstances and clarify how the collision unfolded. Investigators may also examine physical evidence from the roadway and vehicle damage to establish a clearer account of the incident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an estimated 40,901 people died in motor vehicle crashes nationwide in 2023, representing a 4.3% decrease from 2022. Despite the decline, fatal roadway collisions remain a significant public safety concern.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the findings of the ongoing investigation, the family of Bryan Thompson may have grounds to explore a wrongful death claim.

Such claims may allow eligible surviving family members to seek compensation for losses associated with a fatal collision. Potential damages can include loss of companionship, emotional distress and other legally recognized losses resulting from the death.

National Legal Analyst Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, has highlighted the importance of protecting families’ rights following fatal accidents.

In cases such as this, reviewing the official accident investigation, identifying the circumstances that contributed to the collision and determining potential liability can be important steps in evaluating available legal options.

Candice Bond and Stefano Formica serve as national legal analysts, offering general perspectives on accident investigations and the legal considerations that may arise following serious roadway incidents.

Accident Injury News will continue to follow developments as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the Greenville County collision.
